In celebration of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s 140th Anniversay, this year’s display highlights Greystone, the magnificent home of Olive and Wilford Arms. It was Mrs. Arms’ request that her home be used to preserve Mahoning Valley history. This year’s Memories of Christmas Past will showcase Mrs. Arms’ extensive collection of furnishings, silver and glass along with period decorations that span the 60 years during which she lived at Greystone.
Memories of Christmas Past opens on Saturday, November 21, and runs through January 3, 2016. Hours for the museum are Tuesday-Sunday, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.; and Thursdays 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Museum is closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.
Admission for the exhibit is $7 for adults, $6 for Senior Citizens; and $5 for Children ages 3-18 (under 3 free). Proceeds from the event help fund the educational and exhibit programs sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
Visitors on November 21,22, 27, 28 & 29 can bring canned goods for WFMJ’s Project Feed our Valley and receive half price admission.
Sponsors of the 2015 event include the Anne Kilcawley Christman Foundation, The Home Savings Charitable Foundation, The Youngstown Vindicator, WYSU, Turning Technologies and Virginia Dineen.
